The impact of effective leadership

Every manager has his or her own style of leadership. Understanding your approach helps you understand its effect on others and consciously choose behaviors appropriate to the situation. Research shows that leaders who master multiple styles achieve better results. Broadly, six leadership styles are distinguished:

1. Compelling style

Coercive leaders steer tightly to follow through and give clear orders. Contradiction fits less into this style. In moments of crisis, persistent problems or when rapid change is needed, this approach works well.

2. Authoritative style

This leader provides direction by outlining a clear goal and leaving room for how employees achieve that goal. The style mobilizes based on vision. For changes in direction or situations lacking direction, this approach works strongly.

3. Emotionally connecting style

The focus is on harmony and strengthening team morale. Emotionally connecting leaders compliment a lot and create a safe atmosphere. During mutual conflicts or periods of high pressure, this leadership style is most effective.

4. Democratic style

Democratic leaders invite employees to think with them. They encourage responsibility and flexibility, gaining valuable information and support. This style works well when you seek unanimity or need different perspectives.

5. Leading style

A leading leader makes demands and shows how things are done. The bar is set high. With a group of competent and driven professionals, this style delivers results quickly. In teams that are less independent, however, the pressure can increase.

6. Coaching style

Coaching leaders focus on long-term growth. They help employees strengthen their skills and develop future opportunities. The style works well when you want to improve performance or increase potential.
